“It is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community—a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mind full living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the earth.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Practices for Finding our Voices within the Bonds of Community
Real change and a most effective politic begins within the self that is known and reflected in Community. No matter what any of us may think, the truth is that we are all in this together. Community is essential and the more we can remember to practice this truth, the better off we will be.
We at Liminal Somatics believe a renaissance of community spirit, based in relatedness and wholeness, is necessary if we are to have a healthy world for our children to grow up in. The world desperately needs ways to live that acknowledge human differences in just this way. Cultural diversity is essential for a healthy ecosystem. A theme of honor and gratitude weaves through vital communities, and just as there are many stages of life, there is always more to learn about what community truly is. At its most basic levels, community life reminds us daily of our direction and purpose, renews our self-regard, and affirms that connection is possible.
There are many kinds of communities that feed our deep need for connection and belonging, such as neighborhood communities, business, religious communities, communities of friends and family, village communities, and international communities. We will custom fit our Learning Community programs to meet your particular community and it’s needs.
