This weekend workshop will include a new addition to the Body of Wisdom Workshops that David Weinstock offers.  His wife, Judith, has been teaching culinary arts as a somatic practice for 15 years and will be joining David in bringing awareness and intention to the cooking and sharing of meals in these workshops.

Feeding ourselves is the most intimate somatic practice/ritual we engage in as a daily practice from birth to death.  Bringing conscious intention to this practice brings us fully into our bodies and helps us develop all seven senses, which in turn offers profound nourishment for body, mind and spirit.

Practiced consciously, feeding ourselves engages us in daily ritual of embodying our connection to all life on the planet.

In this workshop we will begin simply by noticing how we respond to our hunger.  Do we feel excited, anxious, resistant, distracted?  Are we drawn to ignore it, tense up or welcome it?  Do we honor what we deeply value/care about in the preparation of our meals?

In our exploration, we will:

  • Enter our kitchen “dojo”, inviting all of our senses to engage in the preparation of our meal.
  • Explore our habits around food, and take the time to identify/articulate what we care about in relationship to how we answer to our hunger.  This exploration covers vast areas of discovery, often including (but not limited to) nutrition, chemistry/science, food politics, agriculture/culture, ethics, history, environmental and social justice issues.
